We love to collaborate and have been really lucky to work with some of the Britain’s most prestigious gallery spaces this year on some really inspiring and exciting projects.
Earlier this year we started a conversation with London’s Science Museum about their upcoming exhibition, Cosmonauts: Birth of the Space Age. Exploring the historical, cultural and spiritual context of Russian space travel the exhibition reveals how Russia turned the dream of space travel into a reality and showcases a remarkable collection of Russian spacecraft and artefacts from Lunar Landers to space toilets.
We love the ephemera, graphics and gadgetry of space travel and were set an open and generous brief by the Science Museum to create a collection which included print, stationery and jewellery. A dream project really!
Inspired by Russian space propaganda and print and the details and gadgetry of Soviet space suits and vehicles we developed a series of foiled prints, notebooks, cards and jewellery including necklaces, cufflinks, earrings and lapel pins.
Our limited edition A3 prints and cards illustrate an abstract interpretation of different aspects of the space programme: Launch, Orbit and Radio.
The notebook collection was inspired by mid-century Soviet cosmonaut propaganda and features a brass grid overlaid on our exclusive speckle print.
The jewellery collection takes inspiration from the gadgetry of the Soviet space programme, combining colour, texture and materials to create pieces which look like they may have fallen from Russian space suits, helmets and machinery.
Cosmonauts: Birth of the Space Age runs until the 13 March 2016 at London’s Science Museum. To book tickets and for more information click here.
